The WNHEN teens send a fond farwell to summer on August 26-29, 2004 at Chadron State Park.
Memories we treasure
We want them all to stay
Whatever roads we travel
They seem to always say
Many years a journey
Upon these roads we crossed
Spirits of the old times
Forever in our thoughts
Seems like it was yesterday
That precious times went by
Though now we can envision
The years that seemed to fly
Hear the laughter echo
With times within the past
Journey with a purpose
Always they will last
Treasures live forever
In life they always say
Close your eyes, remember
These times won't fade away.
The skies were clear as we arrived at the Wildcat Hills to set up camp and the telescopes. It was a beautiful day that lead into a perfect night of stargazing. The meteor shower did not disappoint us, from the time dusk fell until 11:30 pm we had counted over 100 falling stars.
Members of the Western Nebraska Home Educators Network enjoyed a relaxing weekend at Lake Minatare over the forth of July. there were all sorts of activities to keep yourself busy including soap carving, cowboy yo-yo's, skiing, hiking, games and, of course, those dreaded chores.
The Summer of 2004 offered members of WNHEN the awesome opportunity to learn and play paintball.
"Behind every good welt, there is a story worth telling..."
A mini rocketry session was held in June 2004 by one of our homeschool fathers. Students built their rockets the first session, painted them at the next session and launched then at the final session of rocketry. All those in attendance had a great time.
One of the first outings of the Western Nebraska Home Educators Network was the WNHEN family campout held at the Bridgeport State Lakes on May 21, 22 and 23, 2004. The campout included canoeing, stargazing and lots more.
